A heads up to drivers who are planning to use the eastbound lanes of I-394 between I-94 and downtown Minneapolis as that stretch of road will be closed all weekend, starting at 10 p.m. on Friday. A highway repair project is closing down part of eastbound I-394 until 5 a.m. on Monday. The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) says that drivers will be detoured to I-94 east to I-35W. Click here for more information and maps of the detours. The repairs are apart of a larger project that began in July 2025 to repair bridges and ramps along I-394, I-94 and Highway 100. The work includes maintenance to the Dunwoody Boulevard ramp and replacing the deck for the Penn Avenue bridge over Interstate 394. All of this work is expected to be done later this fall.
